This resource contains 3 comprehension activities suitable for using with your year 1 class. You can use the comprehensions to teach the children all about spring. There are three topics covered: What can I do in the spring? What happens in the spring? Spring animals There are 3 differentiated levels. Higher Ability The higher ability booklet contains a title page with three helpful words followed by three pages of pictures with short written extracts to read and 5 questions per page. Middle Ability and Lower Ability The middle ability and lower ability booklets each contain three short pieces of text with words that can be sounded out. Each page has trickier words which have pictures to help children work out what they say. Each passage is followed by 5 simple questions. There is a colour and black & white version of each level. There is also a PowerPoint presentation included in the pack containing a slide for each text from the middle ability booklet so that you can go through the comprehensions before the children complete them. Each slide also contains 3 words that are trickier to sound out, with sound buttons underneath them. This is not editable. Answers are also included. PDF file format. No further preparation needed. This is a set of three lesson plans to teach children about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. It is suitable for ages 4-7. The plans are very detailed (9 pages plus resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year. Lesson 1 contains a brief overview of Judaism and Purim. Lesson 2 focuses on the story of brave Queen Esther. Lesson 3 teaches the children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim. Each lesson starts with a carpet session. The children then split into five groups for activities. These include drawing, storytelling, dressing up and crafts. Across the three lessons the children have the opportunity to do all of the activities. The plans could be combined into one lesson with the children only doing one or two activities. There are three differentiated levels of objectives. There is an optional 18 slide PowerPoint to accompany the lessons which tells the story of Queen Esther and how Jewish people celebrate Purim. (This is non-editable. This is a plan for an assembly on sharing based around the story of Goldilocks. It is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. This assembly involves lots of child input to help you retell the traditional story of Goldilocks. It then links the story to a school scenario. When I used this assembly, children were completely engaged and involved the whole time as they are so familiar with the tale. This plan also includes an example reflection to finish with.
